To connect to the Ford SYNC® 3 system, make sure that you’re in your vehicle with your smartphone or another Bluetooth® device in hand. Turn your device on and make sure that your Ford vehicle is started. Then, follow these simple steps:

1. Enable Bluetooth® on your phone and ensure that your phone is set to discoverable.
2. On your vehicle’s SYNC® 3 touchscreen interface, press the “Add Device” button.
3. Scan for devices on your smartphone until you find that SYNC® is available.
4. Confirm that the PIN on your phone matches the PIN on the SYNC® screen. Otherwise, enter the PIN displayed in to your phone.
5. SYNC® will indicate that the pairing is successful.
6. SYNC® then displays 911 Assist status, and you can decide whether to turn the feature on or off. 
7. You will be prompted to opt in or opt out of automatic contact downloads.
8. Press the “Finish” button.
